Marian L. Harrison, of MLHarrison PHotography, is a fine art photographer specializing in portraiture, landscapes, and still life photography. She established MLHarrison PHotography in 2005, after returning from Stockholm Sweden where she studied music composition at the Royal Academy of Music. Marian's Scandinavian experiences opened her mind to new ways of expressing her own artistry, which compels her to combine her love of music, visual arts/photography, and writing to produce multimedia performances/instillations based a particular theme. With MLHarrison Photography, Marian seeks to capture the very essence of the person or object she is photographing. Her desire is to create affordably priced images that are unique and lasting. Midwest Summer Flowers - These flowers grew in a park near my Indiana home. I always enjoyed long, slow walks there because of the flowers and trees. Pink & Yellow & White & Green make for such beautiful things.

Red, Blond Black & Olive - I shot these sculptures while living in Bloomington, Indiana. I was compelled to photograph them because of their beauty and meaning. In my opinion, the artist, Jean-Paul Darriau, did a wonderful job of capturing all of humanity. Support the arts, they are our lasting impression on the earth!!!
Sherhara in Black & White - During my tenure as a doctoral student in the IU Jacobs School of Music, I took a photography course where I learned how to shoot and develop film in the darkroom. The process is AMAZING! While developing these photographs, I stumbled upon a way to create double and triple images on the right/wrong sides of the paper. I want to thank Mrs. Sherhara Downing for being such a beautiful, willing model!!!
Swedish Shadows - For these images, I experimented with the cold, bright Swedish sun as it flooded my dorm room one Saturday afternoon. 6 months of Day, 6 months of Night, I arrived in Stockholm on 9.15.04 and departed on 5.01.05. I often long for a return.
Harrison has worked as an educator in many capacities including award winning Choral Director & General Music Teacher at Ridgeview Middle School in Georgia's Fulton County School System, Instructor of College Preparatory Music Theory for the Atlanta Symphony Youth Orchestra, and Instructor of Music Theory and Composition for the Interlochen Arts Camp in Interlochen, Michigan. In 2002 she became an Associate Instructor (AI) in Indiana University's Theory Department. From 2003 to 2007, Harrison was Vocal Coach AI for the IU Soul Revue, a credit-baring ensemble that studies the performance practices of R&B/Soul/Funk from post-WWII to the present.

Project MAP (music, art, poetry) is an elementary (3rd - 8th grades) arts education initiative that uses music, art and poetry to facilitate understanding of various social scientific issues like citizenship or environmentalism. Each year Project MAP produces two public performances per academic year, which showcase original, participant-made artistic expressions. These performances are the result of a dynamic learning environment created by a partnership between students, teachers, parents, and experts in the fields of music, art, and poetry. Through experience, study, performance, and assessment, Project MAP fulfills its most important long-term goal, which is to produce a population of life-long learners who understand, appreciate, and support the arts through patronage and participation.
